Nobody wants to be the poor unfortunate soul whose cell phone starts blasting The “Family Guy” theme song during a test or office meeting. However, following proper etiquette and silencing your cell phone prior to entering class or work can have it downsides. How often have you missed a call on your mobile phone at home, either because you:
a) forgot to switch it from vibrate/silent mode back to regular volume or
b) can’t seem to find where the heck you left it

Remembering to increase the ringer volume and remembering where you left your cell phone can be quite a hassle; especially after a long day at work. But neglecting to do so can mean missing an important call from a business prospect, friend or family member.

XTreme Technologies offers a solution to this problem, in the form of the XLink BTTN Gateway. The BTTN merges your cell phone calls with your landline, so you can receive calls from both systems on your land line. If cellular reception in your home is poor, then the BTTN offers the added advantage of eliminating dependence of wireless signals. Now you have the ability to receive calls from your mobile phone without the hassle of wireless signals, on your home/office landline. The BTTN is sold for $99, but you will definitely get your money’s worth, as the product can accommodate 3 Bluetooth enabled cell phones at the same time.

The set up is simple: The unit is plugged into a standard wall outlet, and is connected to the landline system through a phone jack. The cell phone does not need any wires or plugs, it will connect wirelessly (as long as it’s located within a 30 foot vicinity from the gateway)- which is great for all you “wirephobes” out there.

So now you can silence your cell phone without any second thoughts. No need to worry about missing an important mobile call later in the day, or dealing with the headache of poor reception in your home. Decreasing the odds that your super embarrassing ringtone goes off in front of your boss is just an added advantage.

Technological innovations of the digital age have turned humans into sedentary beings with precious few reasons to use their knees to lift their bodies from the seated position. Most basic household actions can be accomplished by the lift of a finger and subsequent push of a button. Your TV, the air-conditioner, and (perhaps, most obvious) the telephone; all of these are things you used to have to get off your behind to harness the power of. Though such innovations have prevented your muscles from being on the receiving end of serious strain, the improvement in phone technology is the only one with an added benefit beyond convenience.

Many people have a hard time giving up their home phone numbers due to a nostalgic attachment, but the bottom line is the constant proximity of cell phones in the home have brought about the near-extinction of landlines, leaving you heaps of extra money better spent on that Roomba that keeps the carpet clean and the cat frightened.

To most tech-savvy talkers this is probably a relief. But maybe you’re among the select few still caught up in the thrill of the scramble, a slight burst of cardiovascular activity thrown in with your daily couch potato schedule to make you feel active. The race to run through three rooms to grab the phone in less than two rings has always been a key event in the household Olympics–next to the 10-meter banister slide. Aside from the competitive and health benefits of calories burned running hither and thither for the receiver, there’s the added element of surprise that’s worth every penny you’re still spending on a home phone.

You never know whether or not you’re making all of that effort to field a call from your favorite great aunt or a telemarketer. Rather than just glancing down at your phone to decide if you should pick it up or not, you prefer the socks-on-hardwood slide route to human contact. In short, the anticipatory thrill of yore has not worn out its welcome with you.

The XLink BTTN Cellular Bluetooth Gateway can’t guarantee this enthralling experience every single time you say hello through your portable cellular friend; but as long as you’re at home it gives you the option of racing for your mobile calls (for up to 3 devices and your home number) over the obstacles you so lovingly placed en route to your cherished landline. So the next time you answer the phone, the person on the other end will appreciate the effort you put into fielding their call when they hear you gasping for air. And you’ll get to experience the thrill of victory for the simple act of answering the phone– or the agony of defeat should you miss it.

Direct Connect
All you need is a regular corded or cordless phone. This method is recommended for residential users.

Find a spot in your home or office where you receive good cell phone reception.

Plug XLink into a wall power outlet.

Plug any regular phone into the telephone jack on the back of the XLink.

Pair and connect your bluetooth cell phone to XLink.

If you want to have multiple extensions throughout the house, try using a multi handset cordless phone. If you only want the cell phone to ring in one location, use a single handset phone.

Using House Wiring

Find a spot in your home or office where you receive good cell phone reception.

Plug XLink into a wall power outlet.

Disconnect your home wiring from your local telephone company. This can be done at the demarcation point where your telephone services enters your house. If you are unsure how to do this consult a professional.

Use a regular telephone cord and plug the telephone jack on the XLink into a nearby telephone jack.

Pair and connect your bluetooth cell phone to XLink.

All phone plugged into telephone jacks throughout your house will now become cell phone extension sets.

PBX or KSU

Using a regular telephone cord, plug the XLink telephone jack into the CO line card of your PBX or KSU. Treat the XLink as just another regular landline. The difference is that the dial tone, ringing voltage, CLID etc. is coming from the XLink, not the central office.

Plug XLink into a wall power outlet.

Pair and connect your bluetooth cell phone to XLink. The cell phone can be a shared one that remains in the phone room.

You can optionally use an extra pair of wires to position XLink so that it is located in the office of a particular user, instead of the phone room. This will allow users to have access to the cell phone.

Any handset on your PBX or KSU that has that line appearance will now ring when the cell phone rings.

PBX or KSU

XLink can provide the signaling required by Gateways for billing system use on most GSM networks.

Connect XLink to the FXO port of an IP gateway or channel bank.

Pair and connect your bluetooth cell phone to XLink. This cell phone remains in the same room with the Gateway.

Calls coming in through the IP gateway are connected through the cell phone to the final destination.

Do you always misplace your cellphone at home because you have to carry it from room to room? Tired of dead spots and dropped calls? Want to cut out monthly landline bills?

The XLink BT is a great solution. Simply connect it to your home phones and pair it with your Bluetooth enabled cellphone. Now when you receive a call on your cell phone, your home phones will ring as well. The caller ID information will show up and you can take the call on any phone.

To use the XLink, leave your cellphone in a spot that gets the best wireless reception. Once the phone is within 50 feet of the XLink, it automatically pairs up and connects to your home phone. You can even leave plugged into a charger- no need to worry about your battery dying in middle of a call.

The XLink allows you to connect up to three separate cellphone numbers to your home phone. Each phone can be assigned a distinctive ringtone. Now you can talk for hours with the same comfort and sound quality!

With the XLink BTTN you have the option to use a landline as well. Answer calls from your cell or home line on one phone.
